The core aim of this English course is to develop workplace English by offering a balanced approach to speaking, writing, listening and reading on different topics and business contexts.

1) Entry requirement:

  • Grade E (Syllabus B) or Grade C (Syllabus A) or Level 2 in HKCEE English Language, or

  • Applicants who do not meet the above requirements or are unable to produce documentary proof(s) need to take the placement test.
    The $200 charge for the admission test is reimbursable for course registration within 6 months.

    Duration

    12 sessions (4 sessions / month)
    Each session lasts 2 hours

    Course Content

    Sessions comprising the course cover a number of different areas, from everyday office situations such as email and telephoning, through key business functions like presentation and negotiation, to topics such as buying and selling, advertising and finance. Here are the topics the course covers:

      Professional telephone skills
      Language functions in meetings
      Effective emails
      Negotiation (bargaining and reaching agreement)
      Preparing and giving a presentation
      Marketing (mix and strategy)
      Advertising and language of persuasion
      Buying and Selling (pitch & language)
      Jobs, Pay and Benefits
      Organizations and Business nature
      Balance sheet, finance triangle and financial news
      Social English

    Teaching methodology

    By applying fun and practical elements into lessons, the course is designed; first to raise students' motivation to learn, second, encourage dynamic discussion and practical language acquisition catering for different learner types.
