Power Presentations (Advanced Level)
In this course we focus on developing the language and presentation skills necessary to speak confidently and effectively to a group of people, whether it is at a business meeting or in a large auditorium. You will learn about and practice impromptu, extemporaneous, informative, and persuasive speeches, all of which are common types of speeches you have to make in the business world. Some of the specific skills you focus on include controlling nervousness, organizing a speech, use of visual aids, and nonverbal communication. In each session you will be given a presentation assignment which you must complete and be prepared to present at the next class session.

Speeches of personal introduction with professional delivery techniques
Networking and story telling approach
Lectern etiquette and impromptu speaking
Organization: beginning your speech, transitions and ending your speech
Nonverbal communication: gestures and facial expressions
Managing questions professionally
Extemporaneous speaking: vocal variety, volume, pitch and rate
Persuasive speeches: persuading with emotional & logical appeals
