Why is it so important to get a great score on
SAT Subject Test exams?

  • SAT Subject Test scores give college admissions staff a fuller picture of your academic background.
  • Your score tells college admissions staff how you did compared with other students who took the test.
  • A good score can separate you from a pool of applicants. Even colleges that don't require SAT Subject Test scores often look at them.

Which test should I take?

The simple answer is: those on which you'll do well. High scores, after all, can only help your chances for admission.
However, many colleges require that you take particular tests, usually one of the Mathematics Tests and a Science Test, especially for Science/Engineering majors and perhaps a Language Test for students considering the humanities. Some schools will give you a choice in the matter, especially if they want you to take a total of three tests. Before you register to take any tests, therefore, check with the colleges you're interested in to find out exactly which tests they require.
