SSAT Preparation Course

The Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) is a standardized admissions test used by many unaffiliated independent schools, nonparochial Catholic schools, and boarding schools. It has two levels: Lower Level (candidates for grades 6-8) and Upper Level (candidates for grades 9-12).

Who should take the SSAT?

Students interested in attending private boarding schools, or independent secondary schools in the U.S., will need to take the SSAT. Admission officers will use SSAT score to judge the current and potential ability of the students to handle their school curriculum.

How the SSAT works?

The test consist 5 areas testing verbal, quantitative (math) and reading comprehension abilities. It is a pencil-and-paper test, with essay and multiple choice sections.

Important Fact
A student may test on any or all of the SSAT administrations. SSAT will send official score reports only to those schools you designate. However, please note that, if you test multiple times within the current test year, your official school score reports will indicate that you have multiple scores on file.

How to Register for the SSAT?

You can register online at www.ssat.org at any time or mail/fax a completed registration form to SSAT by the regular registration deadline.
  • SSAT International Test (Hong Kong)
    US$215 to be taken on the preset International Test Dates (5 per year).
  • SSAT Flex Test (Hong Kong)
    Institute of International Education administers the SSAT in Hong Kong. If the student is unable to take the SSAT on a regularly scheduled date, IIE-HK can help arrange a Flex test for the student. (www.iie-hongkong.org) US$215 SSAT test fee, plus HK$1,400 administrative fee to Institute of International Education.
